The charmingly destitute 2-story property at 16 Delancey is under the knife, so to speak. According to recently-issued building permits [link], four stories of residential will soon rise above its neighbors. And that aging signage will likely disappear in the process.

With the bustling Bowery Ballroom steps away, future residents probably won’t be too happy about the constant commotion from trendier-than-thou hipsters. But let’s face it, that attitude is just another component of gentrification – move into a “rough” area and complain about its longtime businesses.
