Inspired by the advent of these tongue-in-cheek ads pasted around the neighborhood, I present to you the "Can't afford to live on the LES because of Yuppification" move:
- Rent. Rent. Rent.
- Parasitic chain banks monopolize street corners, and eliminate neighborhood character.
- The local dive was torn down and replaced with multi-million dollar condos.
- Getting a proper haircut may require a salon visit worth more than my cable bill.
- Drink specials are harder to find, and I won't settle for PBR.
- Businesses catering to locals are being supplanted by bars and egregious nightlife.
- Low-rise durability is giving way to second-rate high-rise glass.

Ha! I posted the hipster version of this annoying ad campaign today...I'm not sure what they're trying to do with these ads...except alienate the very people they want to target.
Oh yeah, I just saw that you did. Advertisers are just trying to stay relevant with their consumer base I guess. They know people like us understand their intentions. I still think it's rather lame, though.
EV Grieve, how can it alienate you when they're at the same time not "getting it" ? Does that mean you do feel offended? Why? Because it's true? Just trying make sense of your obvious contradicition here...
