Orchard Exhibitionist on the Outs
While more hotels might be in the cards for Orchard Street (and the LES for that matter), not even trend can save the battered stretch of real estate just below Houston. Scaffolding and plywood still plague the area, not to mention the eyesore "hell building." In January, the kitschy boutique Apollo Braun folded, and since then, a handful of other storefronts have remained vacant.
And now another closing to report. After eight years in business, Exhibitionist Jewelry at 177 Orchard Street is finished. Their sidewalk chalkboard confirms the news with a deep sale of 50% - 80% off merchandise. Have at it.
