Mercer Dog Run Facelift
Posted: May 27, 2009 at 8:08 am
As we speak, the decrepit dog run at the northwest corner of Mercer and Houston is receiving a much-needed facelift. Behind a perimeter of a few dozen orange construction cones, a large section of the old blacktop has been torn up, priming the area for fresh pavement.
More concrete (pun intended) details per the official NYU Construction website:
In May 2009, NYU willl begin by excavating the site in preparation for a renovation of the Mercer Dog Run. The repairs will consist of replacing the fence, lifting the sunken areas, and repaving the run. Mercer Dog Run Association members will have access to the fenced-in area just to the north of the existing dog run during the renovation. NYU anticipates this work to last for approximately 4-6 weeks.
The Mercer-Houston Dog Run is a volunteer and member-supported organization. Membership is $50 annually, assuming your application passes the board.
