The Party Is Over for the 87

With the requisite “for rent” signs taped firmly in place, the party is over for Lounge 87 on Ludlow Street. Last night during happy hour, the main gate was half-way drawn, voices emanating from within. We peeked inside and saw a few gentlemen casually seated on bar stools, chatting away in the dreary darkness.

According to one man, the bar is temporarily closed due to bad business, but might re-emerge under new management. Might being the operative word here. Indeed, these days “for rent” signs rarely lie.

Also, calls to their listed phone number go unanswered.
