Attorney Street Noise

Attorney Lot of Rubble

The graffiti-laden no man’s land of Attorney Street just north of the Williamsburg Bridge is edging ever-closer toward re-development. A couple months ago, our compatriot EV Grieve noted that the 25-by-100 foot corner property at 178 Delancey was put on the market for $3.2 million.

Now this “frontier” is once again active. Over the weekend, a concerned resident wrote to inform us of the oppressively loud construction work at the once-overgrown 91 Attorney Street lot. All the noisy excavation and earth-moving is reportedly making lives miserable for neighbors in the immediate vicinity. It appears that the stop work order that was on this property is no longer in effect.

There is an idiot in an excavator trying to tear apart an old truck in a vacant lot at that address… and it’s actually shaking my entire building. If this is the caliber of crew they’ve hired to build something new there, I cant wait to see the piece of shit eyesore that goes up in a week.

Further comment about the stop work order being ignored.

Its was HDP doing the much needed clean up. They are above such pettiness as permits, stop works and or even asbestos concerns.

Everyone at 87-89 Attorney St and all of PS 136 cheered them on everyday until they were done.

    Great job and REAL PROS!

First off - Welcome to the hood Greg. It must be nice to live off real pioneers from your litte bs luxury apt over on Clinton Street. It was so much fun listening to your building being built 4 years ago... Glad you moved in less than 1-2 years ago!

If he knew anything about life on Attonrey Street, he would have been happy about this. We have made 100's of calls to 311, we have went to community board meeting... AND after an 11 year battle through red tape... it is finally getting cleaned up.

Second this lot in question was a blight. Imagine a 100X50 lot that had garbage piled 3 stories high covering 33% of the lot. Huge rats and homless people living there. The lot was (and may still be) a DUMP for the neighborhood.

This kids building was shaking? HAHA. I'd be happy getting woken up at 5am for the next two years by a construction crew.

Anything is better than what was there.

Here is som inside info... the owners of 91 Attoreny are not the ones doing them demo. In fact that old lady who owns is trying every day to stop it.

This is just getting cleaned up...FINALLY>

I am sure I speak for 99.9% of the people that live near this lot and or to the parents who drop their kids off at school across the street...

THE CITY CLEANING THIS LOT UP IS A GOOD THING. There will be no new delvoplemnt here for years.

    End of story.

"trying to tear apart an old truck," no available flatbeds? I feel for anyone around this building.
