Heavy Duty Machinery at 263 Bowery

On Saturday afternoon, the heavy duty machinery was parked outside the construction site of 263 Bowery. A fully-extended crane and its few operators were busy unloading a fresh stack of metal pylons from a nearby flatbed. All the while, there was limited sidewalk traffic permitted beneath the shadow of the crane. We just couldn’t contain ourselves, though, and decided to stroll up to the foundation pit to snap a few quick photos. Finally some visible progress, and not just a pile of bricks!
Just to recap, back in August, the original tenement standing at 263 Bowery was dismantled and carted away. A seven-story Karl Fischer project will soon rise in its place.
Of course, any worksite wouldn’t be complete without the profane graffiti! This pink tag was eloquently inked on the adjacent gold doorway.
