Shop, Gated

After nigh on a year at 94 Orchard Street, the aptly named women’s boutique, Shop, is finished. Despite the deep spring clearance sales all weekend, the store abruptly shuttered after business hours on Sunday night. There were no outward signs or warnings of its impending doom. Needless to say, it was a somber scene, with three employees moving out the furniture and packing up the remaining garments.

‘The Butcher Block’ Cafe Angling to Take 254 Broome Street

Its brief tenure as both gallery showroom and pop-up haven is officially over. The westernmost store of 254 Broome Street – formerly the Mayson Gallery (which moved to 75th Street) – will soon embark on its journey as cafe. Think Home Espresso Bar (RIP) but with booze. The Butcher Block – not to be confused with […]

New Dollar Slice Joint Set to Open at Former Stanton Street Psychic

It just wasn’t in the (tarot) cards for the storefront psychic at 105 Stanton Street. The den of paranormal shuttered this past July after barely two years in business. Just as the store was cleared of its contents and leasing sign affixed, the windows were papered to prepare for the next tenant. Paperwork was filed […]
