Step Up 3D to Film on Essex Street

Production for Step Up 3D is now located inside the vacant Essex Market Building D at the corner of Broome and Essex Streets. Panavision vehicles and port-a-potties are present, readying the set for next week’s shoot. And from the look of it, a major scene might be filmed here.

All afternoon, the doors have been wide open to the public, so we just strolled in without any static from the crew. Inside the empty warehouse, carpenters are busy assembling some random contraptions, while a group of facemasked workers talk business; lights and wooden boxes are randomly positioned. Everyone is operating at breakneck pace. And they should. The Disney movie will be filming every day next week, so expect plenty of crowds and traffic bottlenecks.

UPDATE: @MishCam informs us that filming is “also on grand street tomorrow and next Wed and thurs. Btwn St marys at ridge and essex.”
