Cinema Nolita Closing After 7 Years

Thanks to a tip from a concerned neighborhood reader, we bring news of another NoLita closure.  According to a sign on their door, Cinema Nolita at 178 Mulberry Street will be closing on August 2.  According to the email:

Cinema Nolita is closing after 7 years as the principal — well, the only — video rental in the neighborhood. About a year or so ago they moved to Mulberry from Elizabeth. Even though the new space is roomier, it’s apparently not been as good a location for their customer base. The sign on the door says the last day is Aug 2. They’re still having weekend movie night in store this Saturday. Apparently after Sunday they’ll be selling off all their stock. It was nice to have a place to rent where you didn’t have to tell them your name when you came up to the register.
