Renovations at the Washington Mutual on Delancey

In light of the recent merger with Chase, it seems the Washington Mutual on Delancey will nevertheless remain in place. Said branch is currently undergoing serious renovations – the interior was completely gutted and a sleek new row of ATM machines installed in the foyer. By yesterday afternoon, much of the old bank furniture was sitting on the sidewalk for garbage pickup.
With another location just across the way at the corner of Essex, Chase is looking to retain its foothold on this stretch of the Lower East Side. Especially with a Bank of America opening in the Ludlow Residence.
