178 Bleecker a Distant Memory
Magic Shoes and 178 Bleecker Street are now, together, nothing more than a distant memory. The five-story row house is officially eradicated from its century-old (est. 1861) position between Sullivan and MacDougal Streets. For this brief moment, after demolition but before construction, the trees in the back courtyard are clearly visible from the street. Have a look.
We stopped by yesterday afternoon and noticed a miniature bulldozer leveling the structural footprint with dump-truck loads of dirt. Work is moving ahead rather steadily on the future eight-story structure.
