The State Department of Labor just released its July numbers, and it doesn’t look good.  City unemployment increased to a seasonally-adjusted rate of 9.6%, while state unemployment declined to 8.6%.  Experts expect a weak city economy through 2010 [Gothamist]

Looks like the Bowery will soon welcome another luxury hotel.  Behold the cleverly-named Lower East Side Hotel; exact location is currently unknown, but renderings show that it could border the New Museum.  The tower of glass will feature 220 “minimalistic” (read: small) rooms with see-through bathroom enclosures [EV Grieve; Previously]
