NYPD Alert: Residential Burglaries

In the last few weeks, there has reportedly been an outbreak of residential burglaries in the Lower East Side. As such, the NYPD recently papered the neighborhood with official bulletins, one of which hangs in the doorway of 244 East Houston. The grammatically incorrect alert reads as follows:
“For some of these burglaries, the perpetrator(s) gained access to apartments through poorly secured door[s] and windows. Also through air conditioners that weren’t properly secured to windows.
Its [sic] highly recommended that fire escape windows be secured with Fire Department approved ‘ferry gates’ AT ALL TIMES, also the windows [sic] shades and curtains should be drawn so that they can’t look inside the empty apartment.”
