Boogie Buskers: Mariachi Trio

Posted on: September 30th, 2009 by

We were riding a northbound F train Friday evening when a Mariachi band boarded at the West 4th subway station. The trio of musicians – two guitars and an accordion – serenaded us straphangers for the briefest of moments before collecting tips and jumping to another car at the 14th Street stop.

The buskers eventually left the train altogether for the greener performance pastures of the 34th Street station.

These guys have been around for years now. Sometimes the guitars are actually in tune, sometimes not, but they’re always fun. Are you a West sider and never saw them before? I’ve always seen them on the 6…

I prefer the acts with the huge bass. Watching them go car to car with that thing is just as impressive as being able to play on a moving train.
