205 Club Really on Vacation?

When an establishment informs the community of a vacation closure, the announcement itself is oftentimes a subtle warning of impending doom. Whether warranted or not, it really doesn’t matter. Negative public perception is par for the course during a deep recession. Such is the case with trendy nightspot 205 Club, located at its namesake Chrystie Street address.
A sign which hung outside until a few days ago (it was mysteriously removed) indicated that the club would be on vacation from the end of the summer until September 10. Well it’s now nearly a month on, and the bar hasn’t re-opened. We stopped by at around 11:00 pm on Saturday night, and the gates were drawn; phone number goes straight to voice mail during peak hours. What gives?
