Gunshots Heard on Bowery Last Night

A tipster sent in the following information last night:

Five gunshots were heard around 4:25am. Several ambulance and cop cars arrived within seconds at Bowery and 2nd Ave in front of Lyric Opera/NYU dorm. It seemed like they stayed for 10 minutes or so, a few people were talked to (someone may have gone into the ambulance) and then they packed up and left.

According to the Gothamist blotter, a male was shot near Bowery and Bleecker.  If you have more information, please let us know!

UPDATE: A commenter wrote in the following: “witnessed it, 5 shots, a crowd of people scattered, around 5 ambulances came, but left quickly, 1 person shot in the leg.”

    was in cab right where it happened. bunch of 20-somethings hanging out and then all scattered into the street when the shots fired.

    i knew i wasnt crazy, i was awake at home and i heard the shots. i knew it was gunshots eventhough i never heard em before. theres always bad crews/drunks/homless hanging out there drinking and smoking pot on that block of the bowery

    not to be an ass - but the "drunks/homeless hanging out there drinking and smoking pot" are not the ones shooting each other and causing disturbances like what happened on friday/saturday. the fact that this does occur wasn't, most likely, a factor in the shooting.
