Cabbie car crash, street scenes from “old” New York, and Julian Casablancas turns his back on the East Village, all in today’s neighborhood news!

Julian Casablancas, debaucherous front man for the Strokes, has traded the city streets for the sprawl of Los Angeles.  But there’s a song on his solo release called “Ludlow Street” which touches on uber-gentrification.  Three years and numerous solo and side projects later, still no new Strokes record.  When’s the reunion show? Last night, two cabs collided on Broadway near Eighth Street, then jumped the curb into scaffolding.  The whole structure then collapsed on the vehicles.  Thankfully, the six adult passengers escaped the scene with only minor injuries [Gothamist]
