Obey Giant Surfaces on Grand

Half an Obey Giant surfaced on Grand Street the other day, glued to the splintered plywood of 324-326 Grand Street.  Behind the artwork, the stalled construction site remains little more than a slab of eroding concrete.  So much for a the luxury condos (eighteen stories) and swank hotel (seven stories).

Meanwhile, around the corner on Ludlow, a rather unique Obey wheat-paste was slapped up on the embattled black facade of Ideal Hosiery.

This particular take on the iconic standby shows the logo being spit out by a crude printing press of sorts.

  • You should draw attention to those giant plywood boarded up windows right across the street from the OBEY wheat paste, on Grand and Ludlow. Granted, it might take some ingenuity to paste there, but what a canvas!!!! And it won't get wiped away within a week, like the western corner inevitably will. Maybe those windows can become like our very own 11 Elizabeth Street, before it was gussied up. Can people apply those things with a roller?
