Merely days after new sidewalk work began outside 38 Delancey, there is now a huge sign officially announcing the luxury development. And a new website (different url) to boot! This latest news coming almost a year after its scheduled opening date.

Ladies and gentleman, without further ado, meet the latest neighbors:

Welcome to 38 Delancey…where history meets hip. At the intersection of Nolita, Chinatown, the East Village and the Lower East Side, you’ll find a vibrant, exciting and eclectic neighborhood. Delancey Street has long been an important part of New York City – from the 1700’s when it was part of James DeLancey’s farm, to the early 1900’s when it was a center for industrious immigrants and their pushcarts.

Today, 38 Delancey is located in the heart of a fascinating blend of the latest, most sought-after boutiques, restaurants and art scene. And it continues to be home to many historical establishments that have served the neighborhood for decades. Co-exclusive.

Co-exclusivity, where history meets hip - Barf!  In total, there are 55 luxury apartments in this condoplex, with prices starting at $615,000. Here is an advanced look at some renderings.

"Where history is bulldozed to erect pricy condos..."

I mean, the bulldozing is one thing, but did it have to be so effing ugly? You have to admit, something like the bowery hotel is a million times nicer looking. Not all gentrification is created equal.
