New Dawn Landes Music Video Set in Lower East Side
Dawn Landes has been floating around the indie rock scene for a number of years. We saw her perform at Joe’s Pub back in January 2008, supporting her last effort, Fireproof. At the time, she was riding high on a fair amount of music blog buzz due to a cover of “Young Folks,” originally recorded by Peter Bjorn and John. Her latest album, Sweetheart Rodeo, was released a few weeks ago, and one single has a music video set in the Lower East Side. Watch out for the urban cowboys.
Born in Louisville and based in Brooklyn, most of her music is of the folk and country variety. ”Young Girl,” found on Sweetheart Rodeo, is the noticeable exception. It’s a run-of-the-mill rock song, and somewhat of a stylistic departure for her. The main dance sequence was shot inside Mason Dixon at 133 Essex Street.
