The Lee is Taking Shape on East Houston

The Lee has come a long way in just under a year.  Indeed, down at the corner of East Houston and Pitt, the twelve-story building is finally taking shape. Its sheer size and depth is deceiving from the Houston perspective, but round the corner and have another look.  Hello metallic siding!

Just to recap, the initiative is helmed by Common Ground, a non-profit group specializing in affordable housing and community outreach.  According to a Times article from August 2008, once complete, the structure will house 263 studio rental units – 105 of which are reserved for low income housing, 104 for homeless persons with illnesses, and the remaining 54 for young adults “transitioning out of foster homes.”
