Grand Street Fire: 283 Grand is No More

And that’s all she wrote.  283-287 Grand Street is no more.  Its suffering has finally come to an end.  Yesterday evening, the heavy-duty backhoes had their claws full of brick, wood, and twisted metal.  All that remains now is a gaping void and the musty smell of lost memories.

Allen & Delancey Eviction Notice

There is another twist in the saga of the late Allen & Delancey.  Yesterday came the rumor that Matt Shendell would be opening a new restaurant at 115 Allen Street; and now the landlord has served Allen & Delancey LLC with an eviction notice.

Faile and BAST Deluxx FLUXX Arcade on Allen

Last Friday, we reported that a new arcade was planned for 158 Allen Street.  It’s actually just a temporary pop-up installation by street artists Faile and BAST called Deluxx FLUXX (not Vale).  The exhibition opens today, and will run through May 27.

Pho Grand Has Reopened

Nearly three weeks removed from the devastating Grand Street fire, business in the immediate vicinity is trickling back.  A reader reported yesterday that Vietnamese restaurant Pho Grand at number 277 reopened the other night. This is indeed great news for the neighborhood!
