Collective Hardware Artists Worried About Their Artwork

Posted: May 20, 2010 at 6:24 am

A concerned reader wrote in last night following news that Collective Hardware might be evicted from 169 Bowery.  Based on the email, it appears that numerous artists currently have their work trapped behind the freshly-padlocked doors.

Stuart Braunstein, proprietor of the five-story gallery space, recently sent an email blast to Collective Hardware’s mailing list saying they desperately needed financial help to pay the back rent.  However, his plea did not include any allusion to the plight of those worried artists whose work remains hostage.  Will they get a chance to retrieve?

A notice is now pasted to the shuttered gates.
