Slipper Room Demolition Begins

Demolition crews didn’t waste much time in dismantling the Slipper Room at 167 Orchard Street.  Less than a week after the burlesque venue had its final party, the big takedown of the one-story structure is already in effect.  And that tallish plywood encasement is hiding it all.

With the help of a pulley-and-bucket mechanism, the workers have been unloading fresh rubble into the curbside dumpster all week.  We snapped this photo of the adjacent Orchard Street storefront at 167b, which, until last May, housed a clothing vendor. Should be at least a year before the new Slipper Room is delivered.
