Stanton Pizza Now Open at 127 Stanton Street

Preparations and renovations are complete, as Stanton Pizza is now serving at 127 Stanton Street. The pizza parlor opened on Friday afternoon with bunches of “good luck” balloons, and has since littered the neighborhood with its menus.

We stopped in for a quick slice over the weekend and were a bit underwhelmed.  While the space itself feels like a comfortable neighborhood joint with a few small tables and mafia movie posters on the walls, the pizza is pretty mediocre. Individual slices have a nice doughy texture that doesn’t get stale as it cools, and there is a decent sauce-to-cheese-ratio. But we aren’t fans of the oily crust.

Since it’s just a hop away from all the trendy nightlife establishments on Essex, it should reap a sliver of the late night crowd. At this point, Stanton Pizza is open until 2 am.

Have you eaten there yet?  What do you think?

I have gone there a bunch of times. I live on Stanton and Suffolk, and have wished for a good pizza place nearby for a while. The owner Luigi is from Naples and cooks up a mean NYC pie, but with all the quality of true Italian cooking. Really great guy. I recommend this place highly.
