UNTITLED Gallery Opens at 30 Orchard Street
No longer a storefront shrouded in newspaper clippings, the retail space at the recently-completed 30 Orchard Street has finally joined the ranks of the living. A new art gallery called UNTITLED, the details of which were announced six months ago, is now in business. It opened with the obligatory party on September 12.

At the time, ArtInfo revealed that Chinatown art dealer Joel Mesler and Carol Cohen are both behind the venture. Indeed, UNTITLED is actually a reincarnation of Rental Gallery, which occupied the sixth floor of 120 East Broadway the past few years.

The opening exhibit features the work of David Adamo, Heather Cook, Brendan Fowler, Rashid Johnson, and Phil Wagner, and will be on display through October 10.
Though up above, the picture isn’t quite as rosy. StreetEasy shows that six of the nine total apartments remain unsold, including the 1,488 square-foot penthouse for $2.3 million. That’s a whopping $1,545 per square-foot! And now it appears that these units are going rental.
