Behold, the Grand Street Snowman
The world famous Essex Street Snowman now has a new friend just a few short blocks to the north. This copycat sidewalk sculpture appeared Friday afternoon outside Eastern Super Market at 335 Grand Street.

While not as large as its Essex neighbor, the Grand Street Snowman has some flare of its own, including a trashbag scarf and beer-cup buttons. One thing is certain – there’s a new standard in town. The bar for urban snowmen has been reset.

Meanwhile, the Essex Street Snowman shed its cumbersome hoodie in yesterday’s heatwave. He was sweating profusely!
And as a postscript, either of these behemoths can kick the East Village Octopussy! Bring it.
