The NYPD is in pursuit of an individual wanted for attempted sexual assault.  According to reports, at about 6 pm Monday night, the suspect banged on the front door to a Hester Street apartment building to gain access.  A 12-year-old female resident obliged, and was consequently chased to the third floor stairwell, where the man attempted to assault her.

However, the assailant fled the scene on foot, and the victim was unhurt.  Police describe the suspect as a white male between 25 and 30, about 5’9″ tall, and roughly 175 lbs.  Surveillance footage from the building shows him wearing a blue jacket, brown pants, and a gray beanie.

Anyone with information in regards to this sexual assault is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. You can also submit your tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or texting your tips to 274637(CRIMES) and then entering TIP577.
