Another Hanksy Discovered on the Lower East Side

Just a couple weeks after a Hanksy graffiti concoction gained significant attention at the corner of Kenmare and Mulberry Streets, another such wheat-paste mashup appeared a few blocks to the northeast.  The identical adhesive-tag combo was applied to the white facade of the Mikco Building Material warehouse at 12 Rivington.  Same hilarious image of Tom Hanks’ mug on a Banksy rat stencil; and same dripping blood-red scrawl.  It was painted over after only a few days, but the outline is still visible.

As posited by other local bloggers, this pop-parody campaign around the neighborhood seems awfully similar to “Tom Hanks is a Lot of Animals,” a Tumblr account that superimposes the actor’s head onto numerous animals.  It’s worth checking out, but here’s a sample.

All this talk of Tom Hanks, and we kinda wanna re-watch the best movie of all time.  Bachelor Party.
