Dijital Fix Shutters its Shop at 9 Clinton

Posted on: May 31st, 2011 by

We’ve been hearing quite a bit of rumbling in the past few weeks about the fate of Dijital Fix at 9 Clinton Street. Numerous people in the neighborhood relayed word that the kitchy Brooklyn-based electronics shop at the corner of East Houston was shuttering and relocating elsewhere. While it remained business as usual of late, the chatter was indeed true.

The store officially announced its closure and resultant fire sale via Facebook over the weekend. Although the last day of business was yesterday, the owners are reportedly looking for a new neighborhood space. Dijital Fix survived just barely a year before folding, but this same fate will not befall the companion gallery-bar space below. In fact, CultureFix is currently on the docket to renew its liquor license (with complaint history) at the upcoming SLA meeting in June.

Here is the Facebook message:

Its true, our Lower East Side store will be closing temporarily while we search for a new location! This weekend, we are offering 15% off on all the merchandise currently in the store, and even greater discounts on display models! Open 12-8 this holiday weekend: Sat, Sun & Mon.

No word yet on a replacement at 9 Clinton, if any.

Well, that’s just what happens when you try to sell $2 travel alarm clocks for $30. Kitsch value is only worth so much, when you can find the actual Objects d’Kitsch and not recreations at any junk shop for 90% less.
