Velvet ropers Foundation at 137 Essex Street are the most recent victims of the Seventh Precinct nightlife crackdown. The trendy club, two doors from the now-kaput Mason Dixon, was shut down by the authorities. Three familiar neon orange restraining orders are taped to the black-windowed entrance.

Charges are also in line with previous neighborhood closures – illegal sale of beverages, underage drinking, plus a curveball with endangerment due to overcrowded conditions.
Foundation, which replaced Rewind just over a year ago, joins a host of Lower East Side establishments that briefly fell to the forces of the NYPD (e.g. Gallery Bar, Max Fish, Mason Dixon, and Los Feliz).
