“Our Homes, Our Rights” on Chinese Immigrant Struggles [Video]

Set aside fifteen minutes to watch this informative docu-narrative about the struggle of working class Chinese immigrants in the face of rampant gentrification, and the resultant landlord abuse.  Our Homes, Our Rights is a student film sponsored by CAAAV.org, an organization that works to “build grassroots community power across diverse poor and working class Asian immigrant and refugee communities in New York City.”

The following quote pretty much sums it up, courtesy of Hyun Lee:

Real estate developers are trying to change the character of these neighborhoods.  A lot of poor people are being pushed out and displaced to make way for young professionals moving into these neighborhoods.
