Olympic Restaurant on Delancey Open for Business Day After Crash
Early Tuesday morning (1:30 am), a Daily News newspaper delivery truck heading eastbound on Delancey veered off course and crashed into the Essex Street facade of Boogie favorite, Olympic Restaurant. Driver and passenger were taken to Bellevue Hospital with unknown injuries. Meanwhile, the old-school greasy spoon at 115 Delancey sustained heavy interior damage, and the loss of windows which will cost $4,000 – $5,000 to replace.
New plywood boarding notwithstanding, it’s business as usual this morning. Early-risers were seen seated at the few tables sipping coffee, reading the paper, and nibbling on breakfast.
