Months of preparations are collectively water under the proverbial bridge. Top Hops Beer Shop is now ready to roll at 94 Orchard Street. The sack o’ suds soft opened Friday evening for a friends and family event, but officially opened to the public a day later. We popped in for a closer look at the joint…
Our first reaction was the aroma, that of lumber in a hardware store. Fresh out of the box. Upon entering, the patron is welcomed by wall branding and a long countertop that extends toward the rear. Billed as a “tasting table” in the promo language, it appears that was a simple euphemism for bar. There are stools, taps, and one large flat-screen TV hanging from the ceiling.
Walking further within, the interior geometry somewhat resembles an arched cellar, and at once elicits a trendy boutique-meets-beer-warehouse aesthetic. Slide-door refrigerators flank both sides, stocked with all manner of beers from around the world. Most of the brew is sold as onesies, but you can still pick up that sixer of Bud Light if desired. Either way, it’s all quite overwhelming. There’s also a keg room with a complex arrangement of hoses snaking out toward the bar taps.
What’s your take on the establishment? Enjoy their beer selection?
