The Essex Street Snowman Returns!

Old Man Winter has been hibernating this season, and with him, all the lovely neighborhood snow people.  But yesterday the precipitation arrived, and as expected, the Essex Street Snowman belatedly returned from the dead, making his quick Lower East Side cameo before the inevitable warmup next week.

Seriously, though.  The proprietor of the corner grocer at 1 Essex Street was outside with the shovels yesterday, using cardboard boxes to help fashion the double-sided, five-foot-tall advertisement of sorts. His children were also present. Much like last year, the Essex Street Snowman had passersby clawing at their pockets for cameras and phones.
