Mission Chinese Confirmed Opening at 154 Orchard

The Rhong Tiam Express replacement for 154 Orchard Street is now known. It’s a Chinese restaurant transplant from San Francisco.

Diner’s Journal reported yesterday that Frisco-favorite Mission Chinese is making its way to the Lower East Side. Owner Danny Bowien is reportedly moving to the neighborhood on March 1 to get the ball rolling on the expansion.  Like its Left Coast sister, the city version of Mission will be a mix of reasonably priced eclectic Chinese fare, with 75 cents from every purchase going to a local charity.

It was this last bit about the charity that was enough to sway Community Board 3 into approving their beer and wine license.
