Moldy Fig Evicted from 178 Stanton

Well, it appears there’s no chance the Moldy Fig will be reopening at 178 Stanton Street. On January 27, the City Marshal paid a visit and seized control of the six-month-old Jazz club on behalf of the landlord. A pair of faded eviction notices are pasted to the windows, now held hostage behind the roll-down gates. The Facebook page has gone silent of late, and the official website was recently suspended.

The Moldy Fig tragically foundered in concert with one of its owners. Indeed, at the end of November, Charles Brown (also of Fat Cat fame) was hospitalized for an unspecified illness, and his mother announced via Facebook that the club would remain closed until a full recovery. Meanwhile, his condition still remains a mystery to all.
