“Now You See Me” Filming on the Lower East Side Today

A movie takeover is in effect today on the Lower East Side, specifically east of Allen Street but below Grand. The culprit this time around is a new feature directed by French filmmaker Louis Leterrier called Now You See Me.

There’s been plenty of early buzz on the interwebs about Now You See Me, thanks to a star cast that includes Jesse Eisenberg, Morgan Freeman, Woody Harrelson, and Michael Caine. What is known thus far is that Summit Entertainment is behind the film, which “pits a crack FBI squad in a game of cat and mouse against a super-team of the world’s greatest illusionists, who pull off a series of daring bank heists during their performances, showering the profits on their audiences while staying one step ahead of the law.”

Now You See Me is not scheduled for release until January 13.
