Lower East Side Shots, Circa 1997
We’re always stoked when readers rediscover and share with us their personal photo collections of the old neighborhood. Today we present the Lower East Side in 1997, with particular focus on the area in and around Delancey Street. This treasure trove of photos is courtesy of Boogie reader l.e.s.ter. Fifteen years, just like that.

These selections portray the Lower East Side amidst a sea change, but not quite the gold rush we’d see just a few years on. There’s TG170 on Ludlow; Schapiro’s on Rivington; Spitzer’s on Ludlow when it was a dress shop; Parkside Lounge; a Ratner’s ad mural; the East River bandshell. Enough rambling.
