Anti-Bar Veloce Flyer Campaign Intensifying on the Lower East Side

Posted on: April 30th, 2012 by

The vicious grassroots war against Bar Veloce, as well as sister haunts Bar Carrera and Porsena, is noticeably intensifying here on the Lower East Side.  Such slandering flyer campaigns have been waged since early February, as EV Grieve first reported, urging customers to avoid a company that allegedly “shorted what they rightfully earned in wages.”

Indeed. What we have here is a protracted, bloody battle spearheaded by one John Sawyer Preston, a disgruntled former employee who initially sued the restaurant group one year ago for wage and labor violations. His street smear tactics, however, resulted in a counter-suit by ownership for defamation. Apparently customers were “driven away, potential investors lost, and employees unnecessarily upset and confused.”

Yet this doesn’t seem to faze Preston and company.  Neighborhood flyering is so much more ambitious this time around, with pole papers spotted as far south as Delancey Street and the Williamsburg Bridge.

Intensifying is right. There are dozens and dozens of the new flyers seemingly everywhere… in all sorts of neon colors too. Over-saturation. I haven’t seen anyone bother to stop and look at them.

I looked and read them: one on Houston a month ago and one on Prince this week. They were identical, btw.

The fact that you haven’t noticed anyone read them is unimportant.  Have you ever noticed anyone reading the Bill of Rights, for example, or the Bible.  Probably not, but many have.

If you read it, others have.  That is why the owners are in a tizzy and why you reported it.

I live near Veloce and don’t patronize greedy bosses.

Folks might want to look into John Sawyer Preston’s extensive criminal background too.

Preston worked at Veloce for Five Years seems management was perfectly happy with his performance until he quit the company and filed the lawsuit. Corporate America will always attempt to discredit the whistleblower. No dirt on the other two plaintiffs? Doesn’t matter you still can’t still tips from employees with criminal records. Stay tuned for news of m ore suits against FREDERICK TWOMEY and his partner CHRIS CANNON snd his many LLC’S

J you are still are not allowed to allegedly steal tips from employees with criminal records. Show me one current employee denying the claims? Fliers are working current employees claim illegal practices have halted. New shorter shifts, new computers, employees being paid overtime now .
“Thanks Preston for putting your neck on the line for all of us in the company” one panini chef quoted as saying
