Hester Street Fair Returns to the Lower East Side Tomorrow

Posted on: April 27th, 2012 at 6:08 am by

Like it or not, the Hester Street Fair is a force to be reckoned with, having established a benchmark for neighborhood festivals. Taking cues from similar events across the river in Brooklyn, the weekly event caters almost exclusively to the foodie/artisanal set out there. And it’s wildly successful, attracting popular names in both the local restaurant and fashion industries. Get ready for another summer in Seward Park.

Tomorrow morning, Suchin Pak and company are returning to Seward Park for the third year running. The open-air market is every Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm through October 27.

Rat Castle Condo on Ludlow Street Shows Off New Facade

It’s still hard to believe that the Rat Castle (aka 179 Ludlow Street) is finally debuting on the Lower East Side. The infamous seven-story development had been rotting away before our very eyes since 2006, but was resurrected around this time last year. Now the full slate of ironwork is coming down for the first time in nearly a […]

Kosher Cafe Chosen to Replace Shalom Chai on Grand Street, Ending Hopes of Alex Raij and Eder Montero

Kosher is the comeback kid down on Grand Street. Much of the neighborhood believed that the Seward Park Co-op board had telegraphed its latest play at the former Shalom Chai pizzeria at 357 Grand. Restaurateurs Alex Raij and Eder Montero were seemingly a shoe-in to replace the longtime Kosher eatery, having secured approval from Community […]

It’ll Cost Upwards of $800k to Live Inside the Cantilevered Condo at 100 Norfolk Street

100 Norfolk Street has yet to rise above its tattered plywood perimeter, yet its housing stock is already on the open market.
