Coming Soon: Falafel Shop at 127 Rivington Street

127 Rivington Street remained a free agent for three-quarters of year. Now this Lower East Side player is batting for a new team, so to speak.
Last September, the Botanica San Lazaro here on Rivington was evicted from its modest shop after years in business. It wasn’t until late April that storefront activity was jumpstarted. Since then, a pair of contractors have been busy with interior renovations and storefront facelift, all in blogger-friendly public view (i.e. no paper or plywood).

The replacement tenant at 127 Rivington is neither bodega nor upscale gallery. Rather, we are told by workers, the mid-block space will soon become a falafel joint simply called “Falafel Shop.” One of the few such locations in the neighborhood. Apparently it’s strictly vegetarian, and should open by early next month.
