Foo Fighter Taylor Hawkins to Play Iggy Pop in CBGB Flick

With each consecutive week, the PR machine behind the in-production CBGB film continues to work in overdrive. The gears were greased again yesterday morning with a slew of additional cast member announcements. Most notably that punk pioneer Iggy Pop will be played by fellow rock musician Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters fame.

Other new additions include:

Mickey Sumner – Patti Smith
Johnny Galecki – Terry Ork
Steven Schub – Dee Dee Ramone
Evan Alex Cole – Richard Hell
Peter Vack – Legs McNeil
Kerry Bische – Mary Harron

What’s not mentioned so prevalently, however, is the fact that filming is outsourced south of the Mason Dixon Line to Savannah, Georgia. Sounds about right.  Scheduled release date is January 2013, just in time for Sundance.

Meanwhile, is anyone else starting to feel a bit queesy about what this film might become…?
