Little Italy Pasta Eating Competition on Mulberry Tomorrow

Everyone loves a good eating contest, so Little Italy is reviving its storied Pasta Eating Competition. Tomorrow afternoon, ten contestants will competitively carb-stuff five pounds of cooked pasta marinara in under ten minutes. The winner hobbles home with $100, a trophy, and the requisite bragging rights.

Ten neighborhood restaurants will each nominate one of their over-hungry regulars to participate in the annual event. It’s sponsored by Bertolli Olive Oil who will also have Olive Oil tasting table all along Mulberry Street on July 4 weekend.

Instead of Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest –  Little Italy brings back it famous “Pasta Eating Competition” on Saturday, June 30th @2PM in front of SPQR Restaurant 133 Mulberry Street.  Forget the Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest and come to Little Italy for the ultimate in carbo loading as 10 contestants ( 10 area restaurants nominate one of their regular customers who can eat a lot of pasta!!) see who can eat 5 pounds of cooked pasta marinara in under 10 minutes.  The winner gets $100 and trophy and bragging rights till next summer.  The Little Italy Merchant Association is also presenting Patriotic Music Concert on Sunday, July 1, @2PM on the Grand & Mulberry Street with Robin Greeustein and The Great Carazza.
