Nolita House Officially Closed; Flag Deposed

Posted on: June 5th, 2012 by

It’s official, me hearties – eight-year-old Nolita House is no more. As expected, the beloved brunch and happy hour spot succumbed at the end of May. The tattered flag was deposed from 47 East Houston in the interim, and lights turned off forever.

Yesterday evening, the front door was propped open, so we obliged and swiped the welcome curtain aside.  We were at once met with twin signs threatening “prosecution to the full extent of the law.” Downstairs, meanwhile, a more polite letter informs former patrons that the joint “closed down for good.” Next to fall will be the faded awning.

Bonus – this dude was moved enough to create a fan video of the establishment with Fun. providing the soundtrack…

How do you feel about the loss of Nolita House?

Bummed. I enjoyed going there. Friday night. After work. Have a beer. Relax. Meet up with friends. Sad. Sad that it’s gone.

We had some friends in town and were all very saddened when we were faced with the handwritted “closed for good” sign. This was one of my favorite places because of the bluegrass brunch and I have never had a visitor that I did not take there until now.
