Afro Abe Stickers on the Lower East Side

Roughly three weeks ago, these bright orange and yellow stickers of Abraham Lincoln began appearing across the Lower East Side. Phonebooths, fire call boxes, and other street furniture were all targeted for this recent graffiti campaign.

Each adhesive portrays the Great Emancipator himself sporting an afro and ‘fro pick. “Afro Abe,” we like to call it. We’re unsure of the artist, but it’s branded “TM.”

It’s a far cry from the Abraham Lincoln featured in that kooky new vampire movie currently in theaters – Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.
