Man Questioned In Connection with 83 Henry Street Fire and Double Homicide

Authorities are currently questioning a “person of interest” in connection with the 83 Henry Street fire late last month.
On June 29, firefighters battled a small blaze at the seven-story building and discovered two women shot dead on the ground level – Xiao Ling Li (70) and Yong Hua Chen (36). A few weeks passed without any new developments in the story. Until now. Various news outlets are reporting that law enforcement officials apprehended a man from a Hong Kong-bound flight (one-way ticket) out of JFK on Monday evening, taking him into custody.
One Songfei Li was tracked down for questioning, and had previously been arrested in Brooklyn over an incident with a cab driver. He currently remains in custody for that crime while the DA decides if there’s enough evidence to level charges for the double homicide at Henry Street.
Meanwhile, this tenement is known on the street as being a notorious haven for gambling and prostitution.
