Of Blow-Up Dolls and Hearses on Orchard Street

A hearse parked on the Lower East Side is enough of an attention-grabber. Add to that a photo-op with an eerily realistic blow-up doll, and that’s, well, a formula for total spectacle. Which is precisely what happened yesterday afternoon outside alternative coffee shop Grit n Glory at 186 Orchard Street.

The group of jokesters, all giddy and grinning, were busy propping the bottomless doll in the trunk of the hearse. Meanwhile, a crowd of gallery-goers were busy chit-chatting just a few paces away for the launch of some new exhibit at the Rooster Gallery.
