In the run-up to Smithsonian’s 40 Under 40: Craft Futures exhibit which kicks off today in DC, street artist extraordinaire Olek took to Sao Paulo to crochet the most epic sweater yet. For a reptile.
Olek recently linked up with SESC to sheath the Márcia Maria Benevento-designed playground with her token colorful camouflage. The prolific Polish-born artist, whose last piece on the Lower East Side was the dangling Eldridge Street sneakers, deems this decorated alligator a “crocheted gift” to the people of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

What do you think of think of the new work?
